Potted plants
First off, you can try the traditional form of plating without a garden. You can use pots of any shape and size (as available) to liven up rooms, corridors, entrances and a terrace if you have one.
Home Gardening Tips
One of the most popular hobbies in the world, gardening, not only keeps you active but also allows you to give back a little to the world. Encouraging greenery in whatever way you can helps improve the environment and promote a feeling of well-being. Not to mention the calming effect of leafy greens improves the mood when forced to stay at home these days. However, if you find yourself without a piece of land to work with, not to worry. There are several ways you can get growing without one. Here are some of the things you can try:
Potted plants
First off, you can try the traditional form of plating without a garden. You can use pots of any shape and size (as available) to liven up rooms, corridors, entrances and a terrace if you have one.
Wall planters
You can buy ready-made wall planters from most garden stores or just make one yourself with some air-dry clay. Mold to the desired shape and mount on available wall space. You can even cut the tops of old plastic bottles, smoothen the cut edge and paint it to create a flexible wall hanger.
Green wall
In this case, you can create a green wall either by using natural climbers such as ivy or by creating a mesh on to which you can wind young stems of other plants like roses. You can even use the mesh system for natural climbers and save yourself the hassle of manual winding and any damage to the wall should you need to remove the plants later on. Doing so creates the effect of being inside a garden while still being indoors.
Ceiling hangers or plant pods
Like wall hangers, you can get pots rigged to hang from the ceiling and place them around the house to add a bit of green without taking up floor or wall space. You can also try making little plant “pods” by securing the roots of small plants in a ball of soil and moss wrapped up in string. These are perfect for bathrooms with limited counter space.
Terrariums
If you don’t mind the extra effort, you can build a terrarium. These little self-contained environments are fun to make and observe but require regular maintenance. For extra fun, you can incorporate the design into pieces of furniture such as coffee tables and cabinets.
